Into Nature 2021

Unfortunately, the visual art manifestation Into Nature cannot take place in 2020. Due to the corona crisis, it is not possible to organise a full-fledged edition in Bargerveen near Emmen this summer. The exact date on which the exhibition will be opened is not yet known. The organization will soon set a new date for the opening. More about the postponement of Into Nature.

After the first two fascinating editions in North Drenthe and Frederiksoord, the biennial visual art expedition Into Nature will arrive in the southeast corner of Drenthe in 2021. In Bargerveen near Emmen to be precise. This area forms the backdrop to which you will be able to enjoy spectacular works of art on foot or by bicycle all summer. In this newsletter we have the first names of the participating artists for you and you will learn everything about the area.

New Energy
The theme of this edition is New Energy and this has everything to do with the location where the artworks can be seen. Bargerveen is one of the last raised peat bog areas in northwestern Europe. Energy is literally visible here and this serves as a source of inspiration for the artists. Artistic director Hans den Hartog Jager is captivated by the area. “Bargerveen is bare, empty and penetrating and it is full of energy. Historical energy, disappeared energy, invisible energy, controversial energy, new energy - the history and landscape of Bargerveen is deeply imbued with it.” New Energy is also a symbol of the facilities that have been added to the area in recent years, such as new cycling and walking paths and the sheep fold in Weiteveen, which opened last year. A large audience will be able to get acquainted with this beautiful, wild and undiscovered area.

Artists
In total, some 20 artists from all over the world are working for Into Nature. At the moment they are busy sketching and exploring locations in Bargerveen. The artist names will be announced shortly.

Extensive program
The Rensenpark in Emmen is a hotbed of new cultural initiatives. Into Nature will present a special, additional program in the former zoo. Visitors from far and wide will come together here, where they can start and end their art expedition to Bargerveen. The organization is also giving new attention to existing works of art in the area, such as Broken Circle / Spiral Hill by Robert Smithson. In this way, hidden gems in the Drenthe landscape will again be highlighted.
