Walking route

The city centre of Assen is dominated by a Mexican atmosphere and Frida Kahlo. The shop windows are full of Frida Kahlo, restaurants are decorated and Frida flags hang everywhere.

Walking route through Assen
Especially for Viva La Frida! there is a walking route through the city centre of Assen. The 'Frida in Assen City Experience' leads you through the decorated streets and past the 14 special works of art made by local talent. The walking route can be followed at any time and can be collected free of charge at the museum information desk or at the VVV Office (Tourist information, Marktstraat 8). You can also download it for free via www.ditisassen.nl.

Bramigo wrapped
In the centre of Assen, on the corner of the Groninger-/Rolderstraat, you can find the tex-mex restaurant Bramigo. The owner of Bramigo, Bram Grit, is a fervent art lover and a real Frida Kahlo fan! Especially for Viva La Frida, he has decorated the facade of his restaurant in Frida style. In this video you can watch the creation of the artwork. Designed by Katja Manak and executed by Multicopy Assen.

Mural Torenlaan
Near the parking garage 'Drents Museum' you can see the mural 'The meeting'. This mural was painted by Roos Vink and Michel Velt. It represents the meeting between the art of Frida Kahlo and their own work.

Street art Beilerstraat
In the Beilerstraat you can see the impressive mural 'Frida', made by Roman de Laporte alias Jack Lack. According to him, Frida was ahead of her time and represented a new movement.
