In accordance with the guidelines of the RIVM with regard to the coronavirus, the Drents Museum will be closed until 6 April 2020 for the time being. This also applies to the exhibition space KINK. All museum events and public activities are canceled through April 6, 2020. Due to the coronavirus, the Drents Museum has adjusted its exhibition program. The exhibition Barbizon of the North - The Discovery of the Drenthe Landscape 1850-1950 has been extended until September 13, 2020 and Under the spell of Mount Ararat - Treasures from ancient Armenia will be moved to the spring of 2021.

"The health of our employees, volunteers and visitors is paramount. We take our responsibility by temporarily closing our museum. With this measure, we hope to contribute to reducing the spread of the coronavirus. The virus also means that we are obliged to adjust our exhibition program. The developments of the coronavirus are uncertain and affect our international exhibitions, "said Harry Tupan, general manager Drents Museum.

Exhibition program
The Drents Museum is obliged to adjust its exhibition program because of the uncertainties surrounding the corona virus. This means that the successful Barbizon of the North exhibition will be extended until September 13, 2020. Subsequently, the Drents Museum will be presenting the major retrospective exhibition Viva la Frida! from October 11, 2020 until March 28, 2021, in which the famous collection of paintings and drawings from Museo Dolores Olmedo can be seen in combination with Frida's personal belongings from Museo Frida Kahlo. The international exhibition Under the spell of Mount Ararat will be presented after the Frida exhibition, at the end of April 2021.
