Give every child the gift of a magical journey through the history of Drenthe
On Thursday 28 November 2024, the Drents Museum will celebrate its 170th anniversary! We shall blow out the candles and make a big wish. On this page you can read all about it and we ask you to help us!
On 28 November we celebrate a milestone: the museum will be 170 years old! We shall blow out the candles and make a big wish.
With this wish, we hope to reach all children in Drenthe, also children for whom it is not obvious to visit our museum.
Our birthday wish? That all children experience Labyrinthia, our new, magical collection presentation. We dream that every child, inside and outside the museum, will have the opportunity to discover the rich history of Drenthe and to meet our house spirit, the Witte Maegie.
On a journey of discovery through the museum and its collection
We are doing this by developing a unique pop-up book, in which the house spirit takes young children on an adventure through the museum and its collection. During the renovation, the Witte Maegie made a collection of the most beautiful human things. Now that the museum has been renovated and redesigned, all her treasures have disappeared. Objects can be found on each page of the pop-up.
The interactive nature of a pop-up book allows children to empathise better. They can make their own choices and show the Witte Maegie the way. Because the figures, objects and parts of the building literally jump off the pages, the experience is accessible to all children, even without words
Gift for families and institutions
With your support, we can not only give the books away to 400 schools, libraries and hospitals in Drenthe, but also keep the selling price low in our museum shop. In this way, more families will have the opportunity to buy the book and enjoy it at home. With your support, we can reduce the price by half and distribute the books throughout Drenthe.
Will you help us make our birthday wish come true? Donate now and give every child a magical journey of discovery through the history of Drenthe. Together we bring the stories of archaeology, art and history to life for the youngest.
As a cultural institution with ANBI status, we are exempt from gift and inheritance tax, so your donation will entirely benefit the museum. In addition, an extra gift deduction applies to cultural ANBIs.
Private individuals may deduct 1.25 times the amount of the gift in their income tax return, with a maximum of €5,000 in donations per year. Please note that this is a donation with no expectation of anything in return.
