Top summer in the Drents Museum

Top summer in the Drents Museum! This summer two unique masterpieces are on display in our museum. From 2 August, Rembrandt van Rijn's The Standard Bearer can be admired throughout the month. The masterpiece shows Rembrandt, who painted himself as a standard bearer. In addition, from 6 August, the exhibition The Nebra Sky Disc - The Discovery of Heaven can be seen in the Abbey Church. The Nebra Sky Disc is one of the absolute masterpieces of European archaeology. As a visitor, you travel from the Netherlands to Nebra, where the gold-inlaid bronze celestial disk (ca. 1600 BC) was found. A visit to this exhibition will teach you more about finds and customs from the Bronze Age. The Nebra Sky Disc is on display in our museum until 18 September.

The Standard Bearer
From 2 August, The Standard Bearer by Rembrandt van Rijn can be seen in our museum all month long. The work was purchased by the Dutch State at the end of January 2022 with support from the Rembrandt Association and the Rijksmuseum Fund. Thanks to a unique collaboration between 12 museums, The Standard Bearer will travel through the 12 provinces of the Netherlands in the coming year. Read more
