GENERAL

Where is the Drents Museum?
The Drents Museum is located at Brink 1 in Assen, within walking distance of the train and bus station. Click here for directions and parking options.

When is the museum open?
The Drents Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. During public holidays and school holidays, the museum is also open on Mondays. The museum is closed on the following days: New Year's Day (1 January), King's Day (27 April) and Christmas Day (25 December). Where can I leave my luggage during my museum visit?
Umbrellas and bags larger than A4 in size may not be taken into the exhibition halls. You can store your belongings in the free lockers in the cloakroom (insert 1 euro coin which will be returned, or ask for special coins at the Information desk).

What is there for children to do in the museum?
How nice that you intend to come to the museum! There is plenty to do for young and old in the museum. Especially the Largest Dollhouse in the Netherlands and Codename: Energy are highly recommended for families with children. Is there a café in the museum?
Bar Brasserie Pingo can be found in the heart of the old museum area. Pingo's opening hours are the same as those of the museum, namely from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00. Here you can drink coffee with cake, but salads, sandwiches and finger food are also on the menu.

Can you go shopping in the Drents Museum?
Yes, of course. The Drents Museum has a wonderful Museum Shop with a diverse range of original gifts, exclusive design articles, fun souvenirs and special books. The opening hours of the Museum Shop are the same as those of the museum, namely Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00.

Which exhibitions are on display now?
The Drents Museum always has a number of changing exhibitions, and in addition we have a rich collection of our own. Due to preparations for our new collection presentation, part of the permanent collection is currently not on display. Click here for an overview of the current exhibitions.

Is the museum easily accessible for the disabled?
The largest part of the museum is easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. Most floors are accessible by elevator and wheelchair accessible toilets are available. The museum has wheelchairs, rollators and folding stools available free of charge for anyone who wants to use them. Unfortunately, part of the monumental part of the museum is less accessible.

Because the number of wheelchairs and rollators is limited, you can book these via +31 (0)592 - 377 773.

Accompanying persons (on presentation of a public transport escort card) and registered assistance and guide dogs are of course very welcome and can enter the museum free of charge.

Can I take pictures in the museum?

A SAFE MUSEUM VISIT

What measures are currently in place at the museum?
From 25 February onwards, all measures in our museum have ceased to apply. This means that it is no longer necessary to show a QR code, wear a face mask or keep your distance. You are of course free to wear a face mask if you wish. Please keep other visitors and employees in mind. Our museum continues to work with time slots, so we advise you to order an online ticket in advance.

TICKETS

What does an entrance ticket cost?
Adults pay € 15.00 for a ticket, unless the main exhibitions are being changed over. Then adults pay € 8.00. Children up to 18 years old have free access. For some exhibitions a surcharge applies. Click here for a complete overview of our current admission prices.

Where can I buy an entrance ticket?
In the museum we work with time slots. We advise you to order tickets in advance via our website to be sure of a place. Can't order tickets online? Tickets can also be purchased at the ticket counter in the museum.

Why should I buy a ticket online?
With an online ticket you can be sure of a visit to the Drents Museum on the day of your choice.  Would you like to buy a combined ticket? Then don't forget to show the ticket at both museums.

How will I receive my ticket(s)?
Once the order has been confirmed and paid for, an e-mail with the ticket(s) will be sent to the e-mail address provided. You will receive the email in your inbox within 10 minutes. No mail received? It is possible that the e-mail ended up in your spam box. Please check your spam box and add the Drents Museum to your safe senders. Did the e-mail not end up in the spam box either? Then send an e-mail to info@drentsmuseum.nl.

Do I need to print the ticket(s)?
No, that is not necessary. Our scanners can read the tickets from mobile phones. Please have your ticket ready at the entrance to the museum. This will speed up the process.

Why do I have to specify a day for a visit to the Drents Museum in advance?
In order to guarantee all our visitors a pleasant and enjoyable visit, it is necessary to select a day. That way we know how many visitors we can welcome on a day and when the maximum number of visitors has been reached.

Can I buy an online ticket for someone else?
What a nice idea! Of course it is possible to buy a ticket for someone else. Nice to give as a present, for example. Fill in the details of the person you are buying the ticket for at step 3. After payment the ticket will be sent to the e-mail address that is entered with the personal details.

Can I also buy a ticket at the box office?
Yes, you can. Tickets can be bought during opening hours, but are only valid for that day. Please bear in mind that there may be a queue at the Drents Museum ticket desk. If it is very busy in the museum, you may have to wait a while. Do you want to be assured of a visit at your preferred time? Then buy your ticket online!

Does the start time of my ticket apply to the museum or to the exhibition?
The start time or period on your ticket indicates the time from which you are welcome in the museum. You are expected between your starting time and half an hour after that. Once you are inside, you can stay as long as you like.

Why do I need to book a start time?
In order to allow many visitors to see the exhibition, we want to spread the visitors out over the day. That is why we work with time slots.

CANCELLATION / REBOOKING

Can I change or return my ticket(s) after purchase?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change tickets. Please always check your order before you pay. It is possible to exchange tickets for another date and time (if available).
Of course, ticket holders are free to resell tickets in their own network or via Ticketswap, for example. Please note: The Drents Museum cannot be held responsible for invalid tickets purchased via third parties.

Do I also have to buy a ticket online when I have a pass that gives me free admission to the Drents Museum?
Yes, you do. Visitors with a Museum Card, Friends pass, Rembrandt card and ICOM-pass are admitted to the museum free of charge (subject to surcharges for exhibitions). Order your ticket online to reserve a time slot. When visiting the Drents Museum, don't forget your free admission pass.

DISCOUNT CODE/VOUCHER CODE

How can I use an access code or discount code?
After you have selected a date for your visit, you will be taken to the 'ticket type' page. At the bottom of the ‘ticket type' page you can insert a discount code. Click on 'enter discount code' and enter the discount code. The discount will then be incorporated in the price. A discount code cannot be used in combination with other promotional codes for the same order.

LECTURES

Will there be lectures with the exhibition Under the spell of Mount Ararat?
Yes, during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) free lectures will be held in connection with the exhibition 'Under the spell of Mount Ararat'. The lectures are only available in Dutch. For more information and exceptions, click here.

Can I visit the museum before my lecture?
No, unfortunately that is not possible. When you buy a ticket with a lecture, the lecture is the start of your visit. Lectures are available at 11.30, 14.00 and 15.30 (while available). After the lecture, you can visit the exhibition. You can then stay in the museum as long as you like. The lectures are only available in Dutch.
