Getting here

The Drents Museum is centrally located in the historic city center of Assen. We recommend coming to the museum by public transport. That's better for the environment and a great opportunity to take a walk through the city.

The Drents Museum is approximately an eight-minute walk from the Assen Intercity and bus station. From the station you walk to the center via Stationsstraat. At the end of Stationsstraat you cross the Oostersingel at the zebra crossing. Turn left and immediately right again into Kloosterstraat. At the end of the Kloosterstraat you will see the entrance to the Drents Museum, at De Brink 1, around the corner on the left.

From Hoogeveen/Zwolle (South)

• You take exit 32 to Assen-Zuid from the A28.
• Follow the road to the Haarweg (go straight across the roundabout).
• Turn left onto Europaweg-Zuid. Follow this road for 1.0 km and at the roundabout take the first exit onto Hoofdlaan.
• Continue along the road to Doctor Nassaulaan.
• At the end of Doctor Nassaulaan, turn right to Kerkplein.
• Immediately take the first exit on the left onto Torenlaan.
• The Torenlaan turns to the right and becomes the Brink. You will see the museum at the end of the canal on the Brink.

From Groningen (North)

• You take exit 33-Assen towards Assen/Smilde/N371.
• At the roundabout take the third exit onto Balkendwarsweg.
• Follow the two left lanes to turn left onto Balkenweg/N371.
• Continue along the road to the Vaart Z.Z.
• Turn right onto Collardslaan.
• Immediately take the first exit on the left onto Torenlaan.
• The Torenlaan turns to the right and becomes the Brink. You will see the museum at the end of the canal on the Brink.

From Rolde (East)

• On the Asserstraat, after 3.7 km, take the second exit at the roundabout (on the Rolderhoofdweg).
• After 0.8 km you turn left into Javastraat.
• After 250 m you turn left onto the Oostersingel. Continue this road to the Zuidersingel.
• After the Gouverneurstuin, turn right onto Torenlaan.
• The Torenlaan turns to the right and becomes the Brink. You will see the museum at the end of the canal on the Brink.

From Hoogersmilde (West)

• Departure in a northeasterly direction on the Rijksweg/N371 (12 km, continue this road to the Hoofdweg).
• At the roundabout you take the first exit to Balkenweg / N371.
• Continue along the Balkenweg for 2.0 km (straight ahead at the roundabout).
• Continue along the road to the Vaart Z.Z.
• After 2.0 km, turn right onto Collardslaan.
• Immediately take the first exit on the left onto Torenlaan.
• The Torenlaan turns to the right and becomes the Brink. You will see the museum at the end of the canal on the Brink.

Disabled parking spaces

Disabled parking spaces can be found in several places in the center of Assen.
