  • Drents Museum

ART ~ DJ ~ MINI WORKSHOPS ~ COCKTAILS & BITES ~ REAL LIFE TINDER ~ POETRY & SPOKEN WORD ~ PHOTO SHOOT ~ MIRROR ROOM

During Museum Night on Friday 12 June, you’ll be introduced in a festive way to the life and work of Amrita Sher-Gil. Take a look at the programme below.

Mirror room

Step inside the Mirror Room and see, feel and explore your identity.

Amrita Sher-Gil painted her portraits with honesty, sometimes in a confronting way. In a specially designed mirror installation, you’ll find a space to look at yourself just as honestly. Accompanying questions invite you to reflect on themes such as freedom, identity, love and connection.

Photoshoot

Filmmakers and multimedia artists Vida Kashani and Amir Komelizadeh will style you and capture you in a portrait. The photos will be edited and sent to you afterwards.

Within the exhibition, you’ll enter a photographic setting inspired by Sher-Gil’s work—its atmosphere, colours and themes will make you feel as though you’ve stepped into her world.

Real Life Tinder

Looking for new love or friendship? You might just find it in Real Life Tinder. The exhibition explores a range of themes, including love. Sign up for our offline version of Tinder and you’ll receive a number badge. During the evening, you may spot someone you like. Share their number with us, and we’ll put you in touch!

Drinks & Bites

Come and celebrate at Brasserie Pingo! DJ Coco will be playing music inspired by the exhibition. Come and listen - or take to the dance floor and express yourself however you like. Try our special Amrita Sher-Gil cocktail or mocktail, inspired by Indian and Hungarian flavours. A selection of special bites will also be available throughout the evening.

Amrita Sher-Gil

In the exhibition 'Amrita Sher-Gil ‘Europe belongs to Picasso, India belongs to me’ you’ll discover the work of Amrita Sher-Gil, a pioneer of modern Indian art. This is her very first exhibition in the Netherlands.
