Accessibility of the building

Our museum has a modern and a historical section. The building is largely easily accessible for wheelchair users and families with prams and/or buggies. A few places in the monumental part of the museum are difficult or impossible to reach. In addition, part of the building is not suitable for a low-stimulus visit. On this part of the website we try to give you as much information as possible about our accessibility. 

Folding stools 
The museum has folding stools you can borrow. The folding stools are available at the Information Desk and may be used throughout the museum. 

A large part of the museum is easily accessible for people with reduced mobility or who use wheelchairs, mobility scooters or other aids. Most floors are accessible by lift. Scroll down for the exceptions. Our staff at the Information Desk can advise on the optimal route for visitors in wheelchairs and show on the map where the difficult or inaccessible places are located.

Maximum width of wheelchairs and mobility scooters
Please note that some doors, aisles and lifts are no wider than 90 cm. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters wider than 110 cm are therefore not allowed into the museum. There is enough space in our hall to park them (covered), and you can transfer to a museum wheelchair. The smallest lift in the museum is 90 cm wide and 130 cm deep and can be found near Bar Brasserie Pingo.

Borrowing wheelchairs and rollators
Wheelchairs and rollators are available free of charge for anyone wishing to use them. As numbers are limited, we recommend reserving a wheelchair or rollator via the museum's general telephone number (0592 - 377 773) or via the contact form.    
Please note that reservations can be processed from Monday to Thursday. Is your visit scheduled for a Friday or at the weekend? Then please send your reservation request to us by 12 noon on Thursday at the latest. 

Wheelchair-accessible toilets 
The museum has two wheelchair-accessible toilets. One toilet is located in the main hall, the other at Bar Brasserie Pingo, next to the ladies' toilet. 

Portable payment terminals 
All our payment terminals are portable. People with reduced mobility or using wheelchairs, mobility scooters or other aids can be handed the payment terminal.
