Families with children

Would you like to discover the world together with your (grand)children? You couldn’t pick a better place to start than the Drents Museum. In this exciting museum, located on De Brink in Assen, you’ll discover extraordinary artefacts from all over the world. At the moment you can enjoy archaeological treasures of the Maya from the impenetrable rainforests of Central America.

A must for the entire family

For each of our major exhibitions, we develop special Family Quests brimming with fun tasks: get ready to watch, play, do and think. If you prefer, you can also explore local history. Step into the wondrous world of Johannes van Lier and his remarkable family in the Largest Doll’s House in Holland. This is something the entire family will enjoy. If you’d like to get to know Holland’s Energy Province a bit better, Codename: Energy is just the ticket. A visit to the museum wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the famous bog bodies of Drenthe. Or how about a souvenir to bring back home after your visit? No problem. Just visit our well-stocked Museum Shop and buy one of our children’s books, for instance.

Just a tip: three times a year the entire museum is turned inside out for families with children. During special Family Sundays, the museum is just buzzing with activities for the entire family.

Following RIVM guidelines regarding the coronavirus, the Drents Museum is closed through January 25, 2022. All events and public activities of the museum have been cancelled until January 25, 2022.
