Preparations are underway for Labyrinthia, our spectacular new collection presentation. When you visit the museum, you cannot miss the fact that we are renovating. On this page you can read what you can currently expect during a museum visit and what our plans are.
Building progress
Maintenance work in the main exhibition hall has been completed.
Work is currently underway in the historic building complex between the Abbey Church and the new building. Our beautiful Bar Brasserie Pingo has been opened in recent years. Our Abbey Church was also transformed into an exhibition space.
What does this mean for your visit?
Own collection temporarily unavailable
Our own collection is largely in the depot because of the renovation. At the moment, our archaeology collection (including the Pesse canoe, the Yde girl and the other bog bodies), the Drenthe history collection, art around 1900 and contemporary realism are not on display. Labyrinthia will open on october 20 2024.
Temporarily other routes
Dust barriers have been installed at various places in our historic buildings. The Drostenhuis and the underpass are temporarily closed.
The Largest Doll’s House in the Netherlands is open and can be reached temporarily via a different route.
The Abdijzaal, Kloosterzaal en Brinkzalen can be reached via Brasserie Pingo.
Dacia - Empire of Gold and Silver can be seen in the Singelzaal (our large exhibition hall) from July 7. During exhibitions, the renovation is not noticeable in this room.
We do our best to clearly indicate the routes in the building and to keep disruption and inconvenience to a minimum. If you have any questions, you can always contact our employees on site or contact us online.
