DMspotlight: Imagery

A selection from the modern sculpture collection

Drents Museum has been collecting modern, figurative art since the 1980s. The collection consists of approximately 4,500 paintings, drawings and several dozen sculptures. In Imagery - a selection from the modern sculpture collection, we exhibit some of these sculptures. You can visit the exhibition from the 6th of April, 2024.

Ceramic animals and robust faces

Including ceramic statues of animals by Carolein Smit (1960), human figures in wood by Femmy Otten (1981) and Stephan Balkenhol (1957), robust faces by Laura Eckert (1983) and Gert Sennema (1962) and a bronze fantasy figure by Juul Kraijer ( 1970).

With the DMspotlight series, the Drents Museum highlights artists represented in the collection of art around 1900, painters from Drenthe, or modern realism.
