In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the Drents Museum in Assen has decided to reschedule the major exhibition Viva la Frida! – Life and art of Frida Kahlo to the autumn of 2021. The exhibition initially planned for the autumn of 2020, will take place exactly one year later and with the same duration: from 10 October 2021 to 27 March 2022.
About the exposition
Viva la Frida! – Life and art of Frida Kahlo can be seen from 10 October 2021 to 27 March 2022 in the Drents Museum. This exhibition contains the famous collection of paintings and drawings from Museo Dolores Olmedo and also a collection of biographical objects from Museo Frida Kahlo, including clothing, corsets and jewellery. These two collections are to be seen together in Viva la Frida! for the very first time. This offers the Drents Museum the unique opportunity of telling the complete Frida story.
Entire Drents Museum devoted to Frida Kahlo
During the exhibition period, the Drents Museum is fully focussed on Frida Kahlo! The exhibition consists of three parts: in the introduction you get to know Frida Kahlo on the basis of photos and film. You can see Frida Kahlo’s artworks and her biographical objects in Viva la Frida! in the large exhibition hall. Finally, in Beyond Frida we present contemporary works inspired by Frida Kahlo.
