FAQs Frida Kahlo 2021

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Drents Museum has decided to reschedule the major exhibition Viva la Frida! – Life and Art of Frida Kahlo to the autumn of 2021.

Initially planned for this coming autumn, the exhibition devoted to the world-famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) will take place exactly one year later and with the same duration: from 10 October 2021 to 27 March 2022.

Why is the Drents Museum rescheduling Viva la Frida! to 2021?
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and various unknowns, the organisation of the comprehensive Frida Kahlo exhibition for this autumn was thrown into turmoil. The safety of our visitors and staff is paramount. To ensure that as many visitors as possible can enjoy Frida Kahlo's fantastic work in a safe and hospitable way, we felt it would be irresponsible to open the show this autumn and have therefore rescheduled it.

What are the new dates of the exhibition?
The exhibition Viva La Frida! will run from 10 October 2021 until 27 March 2022.

Will the content of Viva la Frida! remain the same?
Yes, it will. The same paintings, drawings, photographs and personal belongings from different museums in Mexico will be on display next year. The contents of the exhibition will remain identical. Click here for more information about the exhibition

What does this mean for the Drents Museum’s programme this autumn?
Instead of Viva la Frida! we are organising a wonderful different exhibition for this autumn, the details of which will soon be announced. Check our website and social media for updates.
