In the autumn of 2022, the Drents Museum will present a special exhibition about Pompeii and Herculaneum, two Roman cities that were destroyed in 79 AD by an eruption of Vesuvius. The Pompeii exhibition in the Drents Museum tells this dramatic story, but is mainly about the people who lived and worked in these two cities. Who were they and how did they live before the volcano erupted? Their story is told through special objects from the collections of the Italian museums with which the Drents Museum collaborates. These collections contain unique masterpieces, including a number of objects that have never been shown before.
